Law Reform & Advocacy

In consultation with legal aid clinics and tenant/housing advocacy groups, ACTO is setting priorities for the law reform and advocacy work that will have a broad impact on the housing issues facing low-income tenants, co-op members and homeless persons.

ACTO's work in this area includes:

seeking legislative amendments to the Residential Tenancies Act to ensure justice for tenants
advocacy with all levels of government to preserve existing rental housing supply and to build new, affordable rental housing
seeking fair treatment for tenants before the Landlord & Tenant Board.
joint action with social justice and housing advocacy groups for a long term solution to homelessness
